Where are these amazing houses that seem to be out from fairytale?
\nThe trulli houses are located in Alberobello<\/strong>, in Puglia region<\/strong>,\u00a0\u201cheel of the\u00a0boot<\/em>\u201d of Italy, the last\u00a0unknown<\/em>\u00a0Paradise and\u00a0for most parts still unexplored by mass tourism. What is Trulli?<\/h3>\n

A „Trullo” is a strange house, due to the conical roof and cylindrical shape<\/strong>, built using just polished drystone<\/strong>. These constructions, that seem spawned from the mind of a fantasy writer, were once the typical home for peasant families in Alberobello.<\/p>\n

How old are the trulli?<\/h3>\n

The oldest Trullo discovered yet dates back to the 16th<\/sup>\u00a0Century<\/strong>, but the origin of the Trullo is far more ancient. The construction technique was already known in Ancient Greece<\/strong>, (check out Agamemnon\u2019s tombstone in\u00a0Tholos<\/em>). It then spread to other Mediterranean countries with the passing of time, finally arriving in Apulia.<\/p>\n

In which part of Alberobello are the trulli?<\/span><\/h3>\n

The trulli of\u00a0Alberobello<\/em>\u00a0have been designated as a UNESCO World\u00a0Heritage<\/em>\u00a0site since\u00a0<\/strong>1996<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/em>The trulli are mainly located in two parts:\u00a0Rione Monti<\/strong>,<\/em> which is the most curatas but also more touristic part of Alberobello, you will find souvenir shops and crowds of tourist, and Aia Piccola<\/strong>, <\/em>smaller, no shops, much less people and much more authentic!<\/p>\n

How many trulli are there?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Today, just in the centre of Alberobello, there are close to 2000 Trulli<\/strong> and many others are scattered among the countryside: sometimes left abandoned as fascinating ruins, of which some are transformed into wonderful holiday homes equipped with a swimming pool, like us: www.trullidelbosco.com<\/a><\/p>\n
